WITH the arrival of the New Year

several changes are taking place in some of the local film distributing offices.

Mr. C. L. Chung, who has for several years been the South China Representative of the Universal Pic- tures Corporation of China, is shortly leaving for Shanghai. Mr. B. W. Palmertz, from Shanghai, arrived to take his place last Saturday.

Mr. Palmertz was formerly with the Warner Brothers office in Shang- hai and, about a year ago, joined the General Film Exchange Inc., dis- tributors of United Artists films there. He was recently appointed to take over as manager in the Hongkong office for Universal.

Changes are also taking place on the staff of the 20th. Century-Fox Film Corporation. Mr. Summerville. at present manager in the local offices, is leaving for Shanghai, and his place has been taken by Mr. T. Madar, who comes from the Shanghai 20th. Century-Fox offices.--Previewer.

To-day, "His Brother's Wife" com- pletes screenings and will be followed Wednesday and Thursday by Cicely Courtneidge's comedy "Things Are Looking Up." The next two days will be given over to the show- ing of "Sworn. Enemy," co-starring Robert Young and Florence Rice.

On Sunday, January 10, and the following day, a Laurel and Harry variety prograinme has been arranged for the screen in conjunction with a stage attraction. For the next two days, commencing Tuesday, January

From Sunday, January 17, to Tues- day, January 19, the adventure film. "Last of the Mohicans," co-starring Randolph Scott and Heather Angel. is to be shown, followed for the next two days by a Universal film. "Postal Inspector," starring Ricardo Cortez.

A stage attraction will be played on January 22 and 23 in conjunction with the screening of "Women are) Trouble," starring Brian Donlevy. From January 24 to 26, "Piccadilly Jim," starring Robert Montgomery, is to be screened.-Previewer.

"RIO RITA"

-Oriental, to-day. This ever-popular musical show which created such a sensation a few years ago is being screened to-day at the Oriental.

Bebe Daniels and John Boles head the cast of stage and screen favourites who

transferred the songs and comedy of the stage hit to the scree::. Bert Wheeler and Robert Woolsey play their original comedy roles, Others include Dorothy Lee, Helen Kaiser, George Renevant, Don Alvarado and Nick de Ruiz.

Much of the film was photographed in technicolour.

D. MACLEAN'S PLAN

To Bring Company to Take Films in China

Hollywood, Jan. 4. It is learned that Mr. Douglas Maclean, the well known producer, is considering taking a film company to China to make a picture with Chinese actors and in the authentic setting.

It is noteworthy that Douglas Maclean recently arranged the 'American distribution of the film. "Song of China," which is meeting with fair success.-United Press.
